The Milwaukee Bucks have yet to win a preseason game but that really does not matter. Obviously, it would be nice be victorious in one of the three remaining preseason contests this week. However, the focus needs to be on how Milwaukee can continue to build chemistry so that the team can be successful in the regular season.
“I just want us to continue to focus on us and get better,” Bucks forward Caron Butler said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
“Working on the chemistry is going to be an ongoing process,” he added. “But just working on timing of plays and where guys like the ball; it’s getting more comfortable and getting into a rhythm.”
The fact that the Bucks have yet to play at full strength has certainly held them back as they try to prepare for the regular season. The good news is the players that have stepped in are doing a decent job and obtaining great experience. It should benefit the team later down the road as the depth strengthens.
For example, Khris Middleton has been playing power forward in place of the sidelined Ersan Ilyasova. It is a position he is not necessarily comfortable with but it is what Milwaukee needs from him right now. The opportunity that he is getting now could certainly play dividends later in the season if the Bucks try to do some different lineups.
Milwaukee has seen some great individual play, but the overall team play must improve. Players are still trying to get to know each other on the court. It is a difficult process with so many new faces in the locker room. With that being said, I believe the Bucks have the right personnel to not only get the job done, but also thoroughly impress during the regular season.
