Charlotte Bobcats Preseason Report: Jannero Pargo
Jannero Pargo isn’t really expected to be all that important for the Charlotte Bobcats this season, but so far during the first six games of the preseason, he has shown signs that he could be a deadly player off the bench.
The NBA preseason inst all that important to some, but for guys like Pargo who don’t even know where they will fall in the rotation, it is a great period of time to showcase their skills and prove to the team that they are relevant and deserve to be played more. He has done exactly that so far this preseason and he looks pretty solid, putting up great scoring efforts off of the bench.
Pargo has played in just five preseason games so far (no starts, he is a bench player), totaling only 62 minutes throughout those games. So you’re probably wondering why is this guy hyping just 62 minutes of play? Well, what strikes me is his ability to score quickly and consistently off the bench in short minutes.
In his limited playing time, he is averaging 8.4 points a game (42 total points) and shooting .500 from field goals and 3-pointers as well. Pargo is 8-of-16 on 3-pointers in his first five games and 15-of-30 in overall field goals. So are you not convinced still?
Look, Pargo isn’t expected to get that much time on the floor this season, but we have seen glimpses of just how good he can be so far. He has shown the Bobcats that he can be a surprise scorer, a consistent scorer and a solid shooter as well.
He isn’t the best rebnounder or passer, but his shooting has shined. The Bobcats have searched for a solid scorer off the bench for a long period of time now. After his exceptional display, do you think we will see more of Pargo this season? Will he become one of the top scorers of the Cats’ bench alongside Ben Gordon and Ramon Sessions? We will have to wait and see as the Bobcats’ opening night awaits.
