Many sports fans don’t pay much attention to exhibition games or the preseason. Even the players say in some sports that it’s too long and useless. A lot of injuries occur during this time that maybe could have been avoided if the preseasons were cut in half.
But for the Chicago Bulls, the preseason means something.
The Bulls are off to a hot start this preseason and they would like to continue this run during the regular season. Coach Tom Thibodeau is on his task and coaching these games like the regular season already started. He is playing his starters 30-35 minutes a night to get them prepared for the grind of the season. He is getting his rotations in order and finding out who came ready to ball when called upon.
This preseason has brought to light what type of team the Bulls will be. Early signs are showing that they are getting a more all-around player back in Derrick Rose. He has picked up his intensity, looks quicker and has become a much better outside jumper since the ACL injury kept him out all of last season.
The Bulls are also proving they can still win without a key piece in Joakim Noah, who’s been battling a groin injury. He’s only suited up for one game, and it’s been frustrating for him, but the Bulls keep on trucking and are still winning.
The undefeated preseason is a very good thing for the Bulls because it could mean even bigger things in the regular season. They have one more game against the Denver Nuggets to wrap up the preseason. The pressure is building in Chicago to win the championship and with good health throughout the team, I can see it happening sooner rather than later.
