Indiana Pacers vs. Dallas Mavericks: Preseason Preview

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

In both team’s final preseason game, the Dallas Mavericks will face off with the Indiana Pacers in what could be a very entertaining preseason finale. Dallas will host Indiana on Friday at 8:30 p.m. EST.

Earlier on in the preseason, Indiana hosted Dallas in a close game, with the Mavs coming out on top 92-85. Although it was a seven-point win on the road, it should have been considered an unimpressive win as George Hill, Paul George, David West and Roy Hibbert all sat out, yet Indiana was still pretty competitive with only their bench and Lance Stephenson as the only normal active starter.

This preseason finale will be different though, and it could be a very interesting game.

Both teams are coincidentally coming off a good win over the Atlanta Hawks to meet up for their final preseason game of the season. Indiana had a very slow start to the preseason with a 0-5 record, but have won two straight games by double-digits and would like to continue that heading into Dallas. The Mavericks are only on a one-game win streak at the moment, but are coming into this game at 4-3, and would like to stay above .500 to finish out the preseason. Both teams will be hungry for a win to build on some momentum heading into the regular season, but who is more hungry?

Right now, I think Indiana will win this game. They had some chemistry issues at the beginning of the preseason, and really had poor defensive outings, but have really turned it around despite shutting down Danny Granger. In their last two games (both wins), Indiana has held its opponents to under 90 points.

Dallas really hasn’t been too impressive offensively in the preseason, so Indiana’s defense should be able to keep them under 90 points just like their last two opponents. Indiana also has been playing pretty well offensively thanks to their beefed-up bench.

I predict Indiana to beat Dallas 105-88 on Friday night.

Josh Smith has returned to the Houston Rockets via trade, and he made the most of his first game back. He scored 16 points off the bench, including this drive on Dirk Nowitzki that made Smith look like Hakeem Olajuwon. Could Ty Lawson and Josh Smith be the spark duo off the bench that rejuvenates this Rockets team?

Curry Shows Off With Half-Court Shot

It seems like Golden State Warriors PG Stephen Curry does something otherworldly on a daily basis nowadays. Last night against the Indiana Pacers, Curry casually threw up a half-court shot as time expired in the first-half, and it went in because of course it did.
