Shaquille O’Neal Believes Brooklyn Nets Can “Give Miami A Run for Their Money”

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Shaquille O’Neal likes what he sees out in Brooklyn, and he thinks they could be a factor in the playoff hunt. It will all be about injuries for this crew that is quite old in age compare to the rest of the league.

They’ve got ballers have no doubt. Paul Pierce is having to get used to taking jumpers while so wide open which is a pretty good early season sign. If Kevin Garnett can get into Brook Lopez’s ear, and turn the young man into a rebounder then we are definitely looking at a playoff contender.

O’Neal’s full quote are above, but here is an excerpt with the former center commenting on Brooklyn’s chances in the eastern conference.

“I think if Brooklyn stays healthy” O’Neal said. “Brooklyn can give them a run for their money. I like their starting five; it’s a very, very impressive starting five. You’ve got Jason Terry, who’s the self-proclaimed ‘Heat killer’ coming off the bench, they’ve got (Andrei) Kirilenko. They’ve got a great team. If they stay healthy, they’re gonna give Miami a run for their money.”

The season starts tonight folks! Can you dig it?

O’Neal can surely dig it, and it was quite a joy this morning to hit record not one, but two (!) pro basketball games tonight and also got lucky enough to get an e-mail from my boss telling me to cover three of the games tonight. So keep any eye out for some content later on if you are truly jones-ing for basketball.
