In Michael Carter-Williams‘ debut on the same day as Allen Iverson‘s NBA retirement announcement in Philly, the Philadelphia 76ers shocked both the Miami Heat and NBA fans in a 114-110 win.

Coming into tonight, who would have thought the Sixers would beat the Heat? If you said you did, you are a big fat liar. Many fans are tweeting #winlessforwiggins. Well, the Sixers are undefeated to start the season, and look to actually have some potential.

Carter-Williams put on a show tonight, and it looks like the Sixers executives were actually thinking when they traded Jrue Holiday to the New Orleans Hornets for his rights. His 22 points and 12 assists earned him a double-double. Additionally, he was one assist away from a triple-double and also added seven rebounds.

One game in, and it looks like Carter-Williams is a versatile option for Philadelphia. He can shoot, rebound, force the turnover and selflessly passes it away to his open teammates. Without looking too much into one NBA game, Carter-Williams needs to continue this play for the Sixers to have a successful season. Yeah, I know this win was probably a fluke, but who knows. Carter-Williams could help the Sixers pull off more shocking wins like Wednesday’s victory.

Moreover, I don’t think the Heat really care about losing this early in, but they had better be careful or else losses like this could happen more often.

What a way for Carter-Williams to start his NBA career. Maybe he will become the next AI — but let’s see how he plays going forward.
