Boston Celtics: Jeff Green and Team Not Tanking Anytime Soon
These Boston Celtics are proving to everyone that they are not tanking. The Celtics went up against the Miami Heat and beat the defending champions on their home floor. Jeff Green was the key and the hero of the game, as he hit the game winning shot a with less then a second on the clock. Luck was on the side of Celtics as Dwyane Wade missed a free throw on purpose to try and run out the clock, but he didn’t even hit the rim which resulted in the Celtics getting the ball back. Green, who has stepped out of the shadow of Paul Pierce, was aggressive all night and kept the Celtics in the game. The Celtics got off to an 0-3 start and many people began to write them off and say that they were tanking the season away. The team had fourth-quarter leads in all three games only to watch them fade away and lose.
The Celtics have now gone on to win three-straight games and even up their record. They played Miami tough and stayed in the game all the way to the end. Green has proven to be the second leader of the team taking over until Rajon Rondo returns from his injury. He has been more aggressive this season, and is not hesitating before trying to make a play. The pressure of trying to be the next Pierce or even Kevin Garnett has clearly been lifted off of Green in the early part of the season. He has shown some offensive inconsistencies, but he has stepped up his defense and put the team on his shoulders during this teams winning streak. It is early in the season, but the Celtics are proving to everyone that they aren’t tanking and are fighting in every game.
