You don’t earn the nickname ‘Big Baby’ by being well-behaved at all times. Glen Davis has proved that with his latest outburst. No, it didn’t take place on the basketball court, it took place in a hotel lobby.
Check out this hotel surveillance footage obtained by TMZ, which shows the Orlando Magic forward freaking out after being told that there were no vacancies:
That keyboard didn’t stand a chance…
Naturally, Davis took to Twitter in the days that followed to issue an apology:
“In regards to the incident that occurred on Friday night, I want to sincerely apologize for my actions. There is no excuse for what I did… I was obviously wrong and I take full responsibility. I apologize to the Magic, my fans and the city of Orlando.”
As you can see, Davis didn’t say anything like ‘that’s not me’ because that incident sums him up. I’m sure he’s sorry, but the days of the forward acting out like that, certainly aren’t over.
Davis has yet to play in 2013, as he’s currently recovering from foot surgery. In 34 games last season, Big Baby averaged career-highs with 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
Most people around the NBA believe it’s only a matter of time before he gets dealt this season. The Magic are in the midst of rebuilding and Davis should make for solid trade bait once he’s fully recovered from his second foot surgery. Once he finally makes it back to the court, he’ll basically be auditioning for other teams around the league.
