After a three-game road trip in which the Dallas Mavericks went 1-2, Dallas can finally return home where they are 3-0. The Washington Wizards will be the foe for Dallas. With a big road trip coming up for the Mavs in which they will face the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic, they do not need to overlook this Wizards team.

Dallas has owned the series lately with Washington as they’ve won six in a row against the Wizards. The Wizards’ last win came in October of 2009. However, this is a different Wizards team and they should be treated as such.

They are coming off a game in which they took the Oklahoma City Thunder to overtime. Even though they lost the game by one point, that’s a huge momentum boost for a young team. All five of the Wizards’ starters are averaging double-digits in scoring. They are led by Bradley Beal and his 21 points per game.

Statistically, this team matches up with Dallas very well. Dallas has a big advantage in rebounds per game at 49.7 to 40.3. They also have a better free throw percentage at 83 percent as opposed to 68.4 percent for the Wizards. Other than that, everything is almost a wash statistically for these two teams.

As mentioned earlier, Dallas has a tough weekend coming up on the road. This is a very critical game for Dallas and one which they should win. That said, it’s going to take a good defensive effort from the entire team to secure the victory. If Dallas can hold Washington to under 100 points, they should win the game. If Washington scores more than 100 though, could be a dogfight to the very end.
