When they return home after an impressive road victory against the Memphis Grizzlies, the Toronto Raptors won’t rest for long as they will have to prepare for a tough matchup against the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. The 3-3 Bulls will be dealing with the all too familiar injury ridden Derrick Rose after he left Monday night’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a “minor” hamstring injury.
News of this injury should be music to Raptors’ fans’ ears as the team could use any type of break when taking on a tough team like the Bulls. Although the all-time series between the two teams is surprisingly very tight at 36-30 favoring the Bulls, the Raptors have had a tough time with the team from the ‘Windy City’ recently as they are 3-7 in their last ten against them.
With Rose potentially getting limited minutes, leaving the game early, or maybe not even playing at all, the Raptors should have a chance to put up a second consecutive victory over another solid team. The key to this matchup: Rudy Gay.
Although he led the Raps to victory against his former team in Memphis scoring 23 points and following up with six rebounds, Gay has to be more particular about his shot selection. The Bulls can rebound with the best of them, so going 8-for-18 isn’t going to cut it against Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer. If Gay cuts that down by three or four missed baskets and makes better decisions with the ball that’s three or four less times the Bulls will get the ball. For the Raptors, every possession will matter in the end if they want to steal a victory against Chicago.
