Los Angeles Clippers Rumors: Lamar Odom Close to Returning?
Per reports, both sides met this past Friday in two 2-hour meeting and while no deal was discussed, sources close to both parties involved said that it would be “surprising if no agreement is reached”. The Clippers would make a solid move bringing back Odom as he can provide solid minutes off the bench and veteran leadership, but it remains to be seen if he’s able to stay healthy.
Odom has been on the decline in recent years and after suffering several problems with the Dallas Mavericks and struggling to make an impact with the Clippers, many people thought his career might be over. Odom, however, seems determined to turn things around.
Apparently, the former Mavs forward has been working out and he’s close to being in basketball shape, so a return to the NBA might come sooner rather than later. With both the Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers monitoring his progress, it wouldn’t be strange to see him back on the court as early as January next year.
Everybody needs a shot at redemption and after a rough summer that included charges for DUI and drugs abuse, the best thing that could happen to Odom is to return to the league. He might have a second chance to prove his critics wrong and to improve his poor performance last season with the Clips, where he averaged only four points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
