The Detroit Pistons are favored by 2 points (according to most sites) against the Los Angeles Lakers even though they are home at the Staples Center. Wow.
Vegas really does not have much respect for the Lakers do they? Game tips off at 9:30 EST, so get your popcorn ready at Staples.
Shooting guard Kobe Bryant returned to practice Saturday and even said recently that if it were a playoff game he could play today, but he will not be out there so the Lakers will have to look for scoring elsewhere.
“Kobe’s not out there to bail us out, but we have good players on this team and everyone is confident in one another,” said guard Jodie Meeks to the AP. “It’s frustrating, but we’re not panicking.”
Meeks can be confident, but that does not mean that I have to be confident in the Lakers. They have dropped four of their last five and look for the tandem of Josh Smith, Greg Monroe, and Andre Drummond to absolutely destroy the Lakers in the paint. It is strange how times change is it not?
Bryant should be back soon for the reeling Lakers who are starting to look like they might not even be a factor in the playoff race. “Riggin’ for Wiggins” anyone? Maybe it is too soon to go there, but guarantee Mitch Kupchak or one of his representatives was at the Champions Classic. You can bet that they liked what they saw.
