Going up against one of the best teams in the West in the Los Angeles Clippers, the Thunder used the points scored in the paint, as well as their free throw shooting, to help with them win. Of course, it also helps when you have a player like Kevin Durant, who is proving himself to be an early favorite for the MVP with his 28-point performance. The defense for the Thunder has proven that they are a solid bunch as well, as they held one of the best offenses in the league to under 100 points.
It is still early in the season, but I believe the Thunder are still among the league’s elite. With Russell Westbrook coming back and getting into the groove of things after his injury in the postseason last year, this team has the potential to be a huge threat in the Western Conference, as they have in recent years. Don’t forget, this team was in the NBA Finals only two years ago and do have the pieces to make a run for a title. Once all the core players get healthy and the team itself starts clicking, this Thunder team will be a force to be reckoned with as the season rolls along.
The true tests are yet to come, but this team is looking very promising early on. We must now wait and see if they can carry this momentum and passion towards the end of the season and hopefully even longer, especially with players getting healthy.
