Miami Heat Should Crush Chicago Bulls on Thursday Night
After a disappointing loss in an even more disappointing city, the Miami Heat will head to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bulls. Dwyane Wade sat out Tuesday night and was a mere witness to the Heat’s 107-97 loss to the Detroit Pistons, snapping a 10-game win streak for the defending champs.
There was no breaking news out of South Beach in regards to Wade’s inactive status, and considering Miami is in the middle of a long road trip, Erik Spoelstra‘s decision to sit the star was based on Wade’s knees.
This will be the second match-up of the season for these two foes in what many expected to be the duel of the Eastern Conference. Instead, the city of Chicago has once again been held at the mercy of Derrick Rose‘s crumbling knees as the point guard will miss another season with a torn meniscus.
With Rose’s absence, the Bulls can be all but scratched from the NBA Championship race and instead be deemed a sitting duck for the Heat. Chicago continues to be a powerhouse defensively, but without their leader and star they have a large void on offense and can struggle to find the rim. The Bulls are ranked second in the league in rebounding and fourth in points allowed, but they only put up 94 points a game which is good for 24th in the Association.
Even though Miami is the 30th rebounding team in the league, they ranked sixth in points allowed and seventh in scoring. The Heat have proven that their rebounding woes are not as big of a concern as once thought. They continue to win and win impressively.
Since there have been no serious reports about Wade we must expect him to play Thursday night. Miami’s bench has been phenomenal and the “Big 3″ have played well with LeBron James continuing to lead the way. The Bulls are emotionally drained and offensively challenged. The loss of Rose has taken a huge mental toll on a team that expected to compete for a title. Miami is playing at a high level and should easily roll over Chicago.
Maybe next year, Chicago; or maybe it’s time to move forward and rebuild.
