The Dallas Mavericks now have almost a .500 win-loss percentage over the New Orleans Pelicans. Dallas, after winning in the New Orleans Arena on Tuesday night, leads their series with 45-23.

The Mavs’ have a strong start to tip off December this 2013-14 NBA season, after a weak way to wrap up the month of November. With wins in both their first home game and first road game in December, they must persevere with three more away games that take them all the way to the West Coast.

Dallas was also off to a stupendous start by starting center DeJuan Blair for the second time this season. This was a good move on the Mavericks’ part, as this worthy addition to their roster from the 2013 champs of the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs, has been dynamite. It is no secret that I have been desiring Blair to start instead of Samuel Dalembert, and I think that this should happen more often in order to sustain this season’s success.

The Mavs managed to have a good holiday with their shutdown of New Orleans’ Jrue Holiday and the rest of the Pelicans, despite this starting point guard‘s game high of 26 points. Dallas’ starting power forward Dirk Nowitzki led the team in scoring with 21 points. Of course, we Mavs Fans for Life love how “Dirk does work” as a score leader. After all, this Big D from the Big D is the Big “1-4” on the league’s all-time leading scorers list.
