Monta Ellis Is Clutch In Dallas Mavericks’ Game Against Portland Trail Blazers
Dallas Mavericks‘ Dirk Nowitzki has called new teammate Monta Ellis “explosive” before. Once again, Ellis, starting shooting guard for the Mavericks, backed up veteran power forward Nowitzki’s props. This time, he was also a finisher, which made him Dallas’ blaze of glory for victory against the Portland Trail Blazers in the last NBA game on Saturday night.
Thanks to Ellis’ buzzer-beater in a close call against the Blazers, the Mavs now have their first three-peat of wins this season. We Mavs Fans for Life can appreciate Dallas and Ellis for pulling through, especially because Portland happens to be the No. 1 team for both the Western Conference and the Northwest Division.
This major game at Portland’s Moda Center that showed the Mavs’ vast improvement serves as yet another testament as to why Dallas’ Nowellis Dynamic Duo, consisting of Ellis and Nowitzki, is extremely pertinent to Dallas.
Now, the Mavs continue their West Coast tour as they trail down to California. First, they face the Sacramento Kings on Monday. I believe that the Mavericks, equipped with Ellis, can rule the King’s court at Sleep Train Arena. After all, at the moment, Sac has as many losses as Dallas has wins — the big lucky number 13, and counting.
Then, the Mavs visit the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday. This should be an interesting battle, because Ellis played for the Warriors for several years, and if center/PF Brandan Wright is cleared to play now that he is practicing again, then he also will go up against his former team, who Dallas defeated at home, thankfully, before Turkey Day.
