Well would you look at that; James Dolan has finally done something right for the New York Knicks. According to reports, Dolan blocked a trade that would have sent Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace, and a 2018 1st round draft pick to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Kyle Lowry.

This deal would’ve been a complete panic move by the Knicks and Dolan. It is rare for Dolan make a decision that benefits the Knicks, and he is usually the one making moves that hurt the team. If you remember it was Dolan’s decision to gut the Knicks roster in a trade for Carmelo Anthony.

The Knicks have no assets to trade other than Tim Hardaway Jr. or Iman Shumpert. Other than that the Knicks have a bunch of large contracts for players that just really aren’t good. The Knicks are desperate to make a trade right now, but they have to be smart about who they give up.

The fact that Dolan made a veto on a trade is a good move, but it also shows how much of a mess the Knicks really are. When the owner is helping in trade negotiations it shows that he has no faith in the general manager. This is a problem that has plagued the Knicks ever since Donnie Walsh left a couple of years ago.

It is a good thing that the Dolan stepped in and blocked this trade. For the first time in a long time he is doing something productive and helping the franchise.
