Rajon Rondo has certainly been discussed in trade rumors with the expectation that he will be moved prior to the deadline, especially after the incredible deal the Sacramento Kings reportedly offered the Boston Celtics. However, the Celtics have stated on more than one occasion they have no interest in moving the star of the franchise.
“Spoke w/source moments ago who said the latest Rajon Rondo rumor that he will be traded to the Sacramento #Kings, is ‘not happening’,” tweeted A. Sherrod Blakely.
With another trade deadline on the horizon, Pau Gasol’s name is guaranteed to attract all sorts of attention. The Los Angeles Lakers always flirt with dealing him but nothing ever comes to fruition. The reason for that is because the Lakers simply ask for too much. As of right now, Los Angeles will only trade Gasol for an All-Star-caliber point guard, which just doesn’t seem to be in the cards for any team.
Many expect the Chicago Bulls to deal Luol Deng at some point before the trade deadline. However, the Bulls recently stated that are determined to keep Deng and not deal him after all. Apparently, Chicago is confident they will be able to re-sign him in the summer.
Kyle Lowry is someone on this countdown that very well could get traded. The reason why I don’t believe it will happen is because the Toronto Raptors are simply asking for too much in return for him. Teams will definitely show interest but none will give into the ridiculous demands.
“Source confirms Raptors working ‘hard’ to move DeRozan and Lowry....but the price for both is ‘surprisingly high,’ tweeted Bill Ingram.
DeMar DeRozan is someone that would definitely have a huge impact for a playoff-caliber team down the stretch. He’s a scoring machine that would do wonders for an offense. Just like Lowry though, the Raptors are asking for too much, which will prevent him from being dealt.
It seems that a majority of the Orlando Magic fan base doesn’t want to see Jameer Nelson get traded. The reason is because he’s a talented point guard who also is a great mentor to the younger players on the team. There are certainly teams that will inquire about Nelson to be a backup point guard. However, I don’t expect the Magic letting him go, especially since the asking price is a 2014 first-round draft pick.
There have been rumors that Dion Waiters wants off the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, Waiters himself put those rumors to rest with his quote to The Cleveland Plain Dealer.
“It's crazy when you wake up and you see all this stuff. At the end of the day, I know what I said, what I didn't say. That's one of the things I absolutely never said. It is what it is, man. They can keep talking. I know I didn't say it,” Waiters said.
Waiters could still get traded, but I think it would be in Cleveland’s best interest to hang on to him.
Like Waiters, it doesn’t appear the Cavaliers have any interest in trading forward/center Anderson Varejao.
“#Cavs' Brown called trade rumors re: Dion Waiters & Anderson Varejao ‘funny,’ as in laughable,” tweeted Sam Amico in reference to Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown.
I would have to imagine pretty much everyone on the Milwaukee Bucks is expendable with the exception of John Henson and rookie Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, I’m not convinced any of the players will get dealt, especially since it’s not in owner Herb Kohl’s interest to tank. Ersan Ilyasova is always mentioned in trade talks every year. However, I don’t see the Bucks getting the proper pieces in return to execute a trade.
Danny Granger is someone the Indiana Pacers apparently could afford to trade because of how much success the team has had without him. At this point, the Pacers will only deal him if the right deal comes along, and I just don’t see that happening.
