NBA Christmas Day: Golden State Warriors Can Gain Ground With Win Over Los Angeles Clippers
The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers will battle it out on Christmas Day. The schedule makers were probably expecting two playoff teams going at it when they created this matchup and that is exactly what they are going to get. The Clippers are currently No. 4 in the Western Conference and the Warriors are No. 8. With that in mind, Golden State can gain some ground with a victory.
Both of these teams made the playoffs last year and that should be the case once again. However, the Warriors don’t have the biggest playoff cushion in the world, as they only hold the No. 8 spot by one game. They are riding a two-game winning streak entering this contest.
The Clippers have been a little bit better, as they are on a five-game winning streak.
These two teams have already met once on the season and you could say that the game was pretty high-scoring. You know, since the final score was 126-115 and all–Los Angeles came out on top.
A high-scoring affair would provide quite the entertainment and that is probably what the fans are going to get. Los Angeles is the fifth ranked team in the league when it comes to points per game and Golden State comes in at No. 11.
Both teams have their fair share of star power and both teams are worthy of making the playoffs. So, this should be one of the more exciting matchups to watch on Christmas Day.
The Clippers may have the better record coming in and a higher spot in the standings, but the Warriors are only four games behind them. A victory for Golden State would only put them three games behind (that’s good math right there).
The biggest attraction this matchup has to offer is the battle between Chris Paul and Stephen Curry. Paul is the best point guard in the league, but Curry has a shot that should never go uncontested. These two players alone will make this contest worth watching, but there is plenty of other talent on both teams.
Regardless, the NBA got it right by scheduling this game last on Christmas Day. That whole “save the best for last” saying definitely applies for this one.
