Do not disregard the fact that Dwyane Wade just missed his seventh game for the Miami Heat. As a matter of fact, don’t ignore it because he sure didn’t during ESPN’s “Sunday Conversation” with Stephen A. Smith:

“I don’t like to say the word ‘hate,’ but I hate it. “I hate not being able to be out there every night with [LeBron James].”

It’s just the latest and most significant push in a long line of pleas to keep the Chosen One in his South Beach shorts — especially when Wade says that James leaving could “impact a lot.” There’s no secret that the Heat organization would take a major step back if they were stripped of no. 6, but what would it do to Wade?

His legacy is already cemented as one of the greatest shooting guards to ever play the game, and his three NBA championships, gold medal and Finals MVP make him a lock for the Hall of Fame. But could James leaving make him walk away? Just ask him:

“I play now to win championships. I play for the camaraderie, the brotherhood. I play just because I love the game. And if I don’t want to do that no more, I can walk away.”

Only time will tell when it comes to the decisions that will be made. Until then, enjoy the Christmas Day showcase from LeBron and D-Wade.
