Christmas Day featured some great matchups in the NBA, but none was more exciting than the game against the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors. Both teams battled it out, but it was the Warriors who came out on top in the end, showing they are a playoff team.
Golden State came into this contest with a one game lead for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. It also came in four games behind the Clippers for the No. 4 seed.
The Warriors are now seven games out of first place, which is how many games Dallas is back in the conference standings as well–Mavericks still own the No. 7 seed. Even bigger, though, Golden State beat one of the best teams in the NBA in front of the world. Well, maybe not the world, but at least everyone who tuned into this game on Christmas.
The schedule makers did one heck of a job by matching these two teams up. They did an even better job by having this game scheduled last.
Golden State is now 17-13 on the season and Los Angeles is 20-10. This is one of those game where no team deserved to lose, but when it was all said and done, the Clippers were in fact that team, losing by the score of 105-103.
The Warriors are not a given to make the playoffs this season, but this victory should give them a lot of momentum going forward. It was against a very good basketball team and it was on Christmas. Not a given to make the playoffs or not, Golden State showed that it is a playoff team in this one.
