Memphis Grizzlies Acquire Much-Needed 3-Point Shooting With Courtney Lee

The Memphis Grizzlies are among the worst teams in the NBA when it comes to 3-point shooting, and their trade to acquire shooting guard Courtney Lee will certainly help them in that area.

The trade makes sense for both teams. Jerryd Bayless will give the Boston Celtics a steady option at point guard while Rajon Rondo is still sidelined, and his arrival could also allow Jordan Crawford to come off the bench as a volume scorer, a role that he feels much more comfortable playing.

On the other hand, Lee will instantly become a long-range threat from the perimeter for the Grizzlies, who should benefit greatly from this move. Memphis needed some help in the offensive side of the ball, and Lee’s arrival will certainly solve some issues in that department. He averages over 44.2 percent from beyond the arc this season, good for 10th in the NBA, and he is a much better all-around scorer than Bayless.

The Grizzlies were relying heavily in Mike Miller and Mike Conley to shoot the three, and Lee will help to ease the burden on the two mentioned players.

It is still early to predict which team will look better after this trade, but Memphis are now much improved after this move.
