Andrea Bargnani Finally Provides New York Knicks A Reason For Positivity
Watching Andrea Bargnani when he struggles to score can be one of the most frustrating experiences imaginable for basketball fans everywhere. Fans of the Toronto Raptors know the experience of watching Bargnani struggle to make shots while simultaneously refusing to defend and rebound all too well. The New York Knicks have grown accustomed to this experience this season, but there has been a positive change in Bargnani’s play recently and New York has enjoyed more success as a result.
It’s no coincidence that Bargnani has reached double-digit scoring totals in four of his last five games, and the one game he failed to accomplish the feat the Knicks lost a close game to the Houston Rockets. Some would say that this trend indicates that Bargnani plays the largest role in whether or not New York experiences success on the court.
Honestly, the Knicks have been forced to constantly tweak their rotation this season due to an endless stream of injuries, but Bargnani has been one of the only constants in the Knicks’ lineup. In fact, only Bargnani and Iman Shumpert have appeared in all 35 of the Knicks’ games this season.
New York needs to focus on developing Bargnani’s game with his back to the basket, because the Knicks are obviously a better team when he can provide some consistent scoring. Unfortunately for New York, Bargnani is enamored with the three ball as he has attempted 95 three-pointers on the season, but he has made only 28 of those attempts.
Then again, this article was not at all intended to be negative, but the purpose was to give Bargnani his props for his improved play as of late. The Knicks have definitely benefited from Bargnani’s recent performances, and it’s finally time to give the much-maligned power forward a break from all the criticism.
