Ranking the 5 Worst NBA All-Star Jerseys of All Time
A Look at the Ugliest Jerseys in NBA All-Star Game History
It's the middle of the winter, which means that the NBA All-Star Game is right around the corner. With the leak of this year's jerseys, people are already buzzing about the annual exhibition game. However, it's not the buzz that the NBA was looking for.
There are certainly mixed feelings when it comes to All Star games. Some people find them to be worthless, while others are just excited to get a chance to see their favorite players show off their skills. If you like offense, All Star games are for you.
Personally, I find MLB's 'winner gets home field advantage for their league' in the World Series rule to be incredibly stupid. I understand what Bud Selig was going for (trying to get players to care about the game), but it's an exhibition game for crying out loud. The team with the best record coming into the WS gets no advantage unless it's lucky enough to have its league win the ASG.
Where the NBA has really hit a home run is with the ASG weekend concept. Arguably, the 3-point shootout and dunk contests draw more attention to the event than the actual game itself. That's where the NFL is really failing right now. They keep trying to fix the Pro Bowl, but that's not the problem. The problem is that there's nothing else for fans to look forward to besides the game itself. The game itself is terrible, because football players simply aren't going to go all out in a game that means nothing.
But getting back to the NBA, with all the buzz about this year's uniforms, I figured it would be a good idea to stroll down memory lane to look at the most hideous uniforms in ASG history. Enjoy:
1991, 1993, 1994
These uniforms scream early 1990s. While they're ugly, they're far from the ugliest.
Most of the jerseys in past 10 years have been pretty okay. However, the same cannot be said for 2006's jerseys.
I get it, the game was in Phoenix so they wanted to incorporate a desert theme...
This design looks like it was from the winner of a 5th grade 'create an ASG jersey' contest.
There was only one choice for the ugliest NBA ASG jersey of all time - 2014. What in the heck was the league thinking? These sleeve jerseys are hideous enough without crappy color schemes like the one on the East jerseys.
