Oklahoma City Thunder: Kevin Durant Continues Making Case To Bring Home MVP Award

Kevin Durant continues to make a case to take home the MVP award at the end of this season and as expected, he was at his best against LeBron James and the Miami Heat.

The Oklahoma City Thunder overcame a slow start in the first quarter and dominated the Heat through the final three periods, coming away with a huge 112-95 win on the road where Durant was – once again – the focal point of the Thunder’s offense.

The star forward outplayed James and finished the game with 33 points, seven rebounds and five assists. While it needs to be said that the Thunder wouldn’t have been able to turn the game around without a complete team effort – where the likes of Derek Fisher and Thabo Sefolosha were magnificent — tonight’s contest marked the 12th straight game that Durant scored 30 or more points in what is, undoubtedly, a remarkable achievement.

Kobe Bryant already went through a similar streak that reached 16 games and Tracy McGrady also did it in 14 straight contests, but neither did it with the kind of numbers Durantula has posted down this stretch, averaging more than 50 percent from the field while also contributing with rebounds and assists. We can also add the fact that Durant has carried the team on his back ever since Russell Westbrook went down with an injury, which makes it even more impressive.

It remains to be seen if the Thunder will continue winning games and how long Durant will maintain this streak, but one thing is certain, the Thunder are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now and if Durant keeps producing this way, there are simply not many teams that have the weapons to stop them.
