Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey Calls Royce White “Worst First-Round Pick Ever”

Well, I guess if you cannot take the heat, then just get out of the fire. Royce White had some twitter comments directed at his former team the Houston Rockets, and so it did not surprise me to see general manager Daryl Morey launch back recently.

“I take some sort of pride in that you could argue that Royce White is the worst first-round pick ever,” Morey said in a ClutchFans.net Q&A discussion. “He’s the only one that never played a minute in the NBA that wasn’t just a foreign guy staying in Europe. It just shows we swing for the fence.”

The GM certainly does, and the Rockets’ future appears to be in quite bright hands. White showed flashes of great talent in college, but an anxiety disorder coupled with a sever fear of flying make a pro basketball career unlikely for the forward.

Was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Morey at the Champions Classic, and you can bet that every GM who was doing their job was at that double-header.

We will have to see if White can scratch a career together, and definitely rooting for him. Just have to report the interesting stories as they pop up, but thanks as always for reading and keep an eye out for a piece on LeBron James later on.
