Time for Los Angeles Lakers to Trade Pau Gasol
Pau Gasol has been a member of the Los Angeles Lakers since the middle of the 2007-08 season with mostly good memories. These days, it is flat out painful to watch this shell of a player.
It’s time for Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss to put everyone out of their misery and deal him before the trade deadline. The Phoenix Suns are the latest team interested in the services of the four-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion. Gasol has put up some impressive numbers recently, but those seem to be empty stats as the Lakers continue to lose at an alarming rate.
If the Suns are dazzled by Pau’s recent mirage then now is the time for Los Angeles to make it happen. Getting a draft pick is vital; hey, maybe it’s possible to get the 2015 first-round pick back from the Steve Nash trade. Wouldn’t that be fun?
The reality of the situation is Gasol has stuck around a little too long in Lakerland. The fans in L.A. are trying their best to stay patient and not voice their frustrations during games. It would be a sad day if Gasol was hearing boos from the Staples Center crowd on a nightly basis. That’s why it’s important to make the trade now so that never happens. He’s too good of a guy and doesn’t deserve any kind of wrath after bringing two championships to those same fans.
Gasol has been limping up and down the court the past five games due to a groin strain. It will force him out of action for at least a week. Hopefully, there will be a resolution to all of the rumors within that span.
I’m looking forward to the day where “The Spaniard” gets a standing ovation from the Laker faithful when he returns as an opponent. Because lately, it has just been plain awkward.
