Charlotte Bobcats Rumors: Evan Turner, Ben Gordon Involved in Potential Trade

Don’t laugh, but the Charlotte Bobcats are looking to improve their already-realistic playoff position.

Okay, go ahead and laugh now – I did. But, in all seriousness, the Bobcats are in the eighth and final playoff position and are looking to make a move.

According to The Charlotte Observer, the Bobcats are seriously interested in Philadelphia 76ers forward Evan Turner. With the trade deadline approaching on February 20th, the Bobcats have just under two weeks to make something happen.

The problem, for Charlotte, is sending something back to the Sixers in which they would find appealing. The Bobcats have up to three first round picks in this year’s draft – quite possibly just two, if they end up owing one to the Chicago Bulls.

They also have the expiring contract of Ben Gordon, which is a whopping $13.2 million. Above all else, this may be the piece the Sixers are looking for. Philadelphia is in an obvious rebuilding mode, and clearing up significant cap space is what they are in the business of doing at this point.

It’s already been made known that Turner is available, but will the Bobcats want to take a chance on a guy who is likely heading into restricted free agency? Not only that, but do they see Turner as a legitimate building block to place with Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel?

If so, they’ll likely already be thinking about a potential offer for Turner to make sure he doesn’t end up in another uniform this summer. That offer would have to be upwards of $8.7 million in order to keep him – not too bad, considering Turner still shows some potential of improving.

Turner has averaged over 18 points and six rebounds this season, which is something the Bobcats have to be looking at while trying not to drool. Charlotte desperately needs a consistent scorer at the position and Turner could definitely fill that void. Like I said, they have two weeks to make it happen – will they get it done?

Noel Emphatically Posterizes Drummond

With Jahlil Okafor out for the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistons, Nerlens Noel had an opportunity to shine, and he took advantage. Noel makes Andre Drummond look feeble on this play, and that isn't an easy thing to do.

Hornets Inexplicably Allow Durant Free Dunk

While I understand that Oklahoma City Thunder SF Kevin Durant is physically intimidating when driving the lane, the Charlotte Hornets should be ashamed of themselves for the defensive effort they put forth during this play. I mean, they didn't even try. The Hornets have made some solid strides this season, but boneheaded mental collapses like this will prevent them from continuing to build momentum.
