Golden State Warriors Rumors: Anyone Not Named Stephen Curry on Trade Block
The Golden State Warriors thought they would be a bit higher than the sixth seed nearing the All-Star break. After having what many thought was one of the best off seasons in the NBA, Golden State was primed to be a favorite in the Western Conference. Thus far, a 30-20 record has them staying competitive — but not dominating.
So, how do they fix their current situation?
A trade, of course.
According to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports, the Warriors are looking to make a deal happen prior to the deadline on February 20th. Not only that, but they are willing to trade just about anyone.
“They have one of the most aggressive front offices in the league, and rival executives are of the belief that anyone not named Stephen Curry or Andrew Bogut is up for discussion,” Amick wrote.
Obviously, Curry is off limits. Apparently, Bogut is as well. But, virtually anybody else is up for discussion. That means that Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, David Lee or Andre Iguodala could all be in danger of being traded.
Golden State will need to make a move to improve defensively. Of course, they can score with the best of the best. But, when it comes to holding opponents in check, they could use another legitimate defender. The Warriors rank 8th in the league in points allowed, which doesn’t scream “help” by any means. However, many believe that could be the biggest thing holding them back right now — just one more piece, namely a defender, could get them over the hump.
One name thrown around has been Kirk Hinrich, who they have been interested in. Could they work out a deal where they received Hinrich and Taj Gibson? That’s always a possibility, as the Chicago Bulls are likely going to be very active prior to the deadline as well. Whatever route they choose to go, we’ll have all the latest whispers here until then. Keep checking back as things continue to get more interesting by the day in the world of NBA trade talks.
