New Orleans Pelicans Rumors: Team Could Trade Eric Gordon to Philadelphia 76ers
At this point, with the 2014 NBA trade deadline less than two weeks away, we know a few things are almost certain. One of those things we know is that the Philadelphia 76ers are going to be players. At least three of their most notable names are on the trade block: Evan Turner (most likely to be dealt), Spencer Hawes and Thaddeus Young.
The Sixers are rebuilding and want to make moves right now. Another team, the New Orleans Pelicans, started that process over the summer and looked like they could be a formidable team going into this season. So far, injuries have hurt them big time. Between Ryan Anderson and Jrue Holiday, two of their most important players haven’t been able to contribute as much as they originally would have thought.
That’s where the Sixers come in. According to USA TODAY Sports, the Pelicans are pushing hard to trade shooting guard Eric Gordon. In the same report, it’s said that the Sixers could be a potential trade partner, particularly because the Western Conference teams know Hawes is available via trade and he seems to be a target.
Gordon is scoring a career-low during this season, but the Sixers may be willing to take a chance on a young, athletic guard while in the process of dealing some of their heftier names out of Philly. For the Pelicans, Hawes would definitely help. Who knows, though, Young might even be a possibility.
What we do know, is that both of these teams are likely to be active prior to the deadline and that might end up leading them toward one another — again. These two are quite familiar in dealing with one another, as you may remember the Sixers dealt their All-Star point guard, Holiday, to the Pelicans for the rights to rookie Nerlens Noel back on draft night.
Stick around, folks, because the trade rumors will keep coming — and you better believe we’ll have them all covered right here.
