Warriors vs. Suns Preview: Offensive Show On Tap Tonight
If you love to watch two teams light it up on the offensive end, then you have to watch tonight’s game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns. Right now, there aren’t two point guards in the NBA worth talking about in a positive light more than Stephen Curry and Goran Dragic. Both players have their teams firmly sitting in the playoff picture heading into the All-Star break.
The Warriors are coming off a great win against a tough Chicago Bulls team on Thursday night. In that game, they were without big men David Lee and Andrew Bogut due to injuries. Yet, they were able to use their small lineup to their advantage with the strong performance of Curry.
The Suns are entering tonight’s matchup on a two-game skid after losing to the same Bulls team on Tuesday and the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. In both of those games, Dragic was his usual self. In fact, over the past five games, he is averaging 26 PPG.
Tonight, the Warriors will be without Lee and Bogut once again. This is a big loss, but they have proven that their reserve players are good enough to fill in whenever they need to. In plus, this gives players like Harrison Barnes an opportunity to get some well-deserved playing time that he lost when Andre Iguodala arrived in town.
Dragic will need as much support as he can get from his teammates if they want to be able to keep up with the pace the Warriors will try to set. This means that Gerald Green and P.J. Tucker will play very prominent roles in deciding the end of this one. They will have to find their shots early and often. Defensively, they will have to force Klay Thompson into one of the shooting slumps that he has been prone to lately.
Like I said, you shouldn’t miss this game.
