The 5 Greatest Boston Celtics To Ever Play In The NBA All-Star Game

Boston Celtics NBA All-Star Game

The Boston Celtics have had the best of everything in their illustrious history. The Celtics have the most championships of any team in the NBA with 17, they have the greatest coach of all time in Red Auerbach, the greatest winner in NBA history in Bill Russell and the greatest pure shooter in NBA history in Larry Bird. The Celtics have been the model franchise that every team looks to patent themselves after. Trying to narrow down their best players to ever play in an All-Star Game is one of the more difficult tasks to do.

The Celtics both have had the ability to combine individual excellence into overall team achievement. The Russell era had no more than eight Hall of Famers in any given year, Bird's Celtics had four and even five Hall of Famers on the same team and the most recent champion Celtics in 2008 will go down with three future Hall of Famers in Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett.

With a sustained excellence and championships in five of the past six decades, many Celtics legends are worthy of inclusion in this list. Unfortunately, with such a huge list of Hall of Fame and future Hall of Fame talent to choose, some tough decisions had to be made.

Ranking who are the top five players in Celtics’ history to play in the NBA All-Star game is very hard and time consuming given all of the legends who have worn Celtics green and white, and the rankings are subject to constant hours of debate. Most of my top 5 are players everyone has heard of, but the rankings may surprise some as well.
