Joel Embiid is one of the top choices expected to be available at this year’s draft. Could the Milwaukee Bucks use a center compared to Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson? Of course the answer is yes.
Embiid is only 19-years old and already has the size and strength of an NBA center. Embiid can shoot, move and even pass the rock when needed. Many have attended Kansas Jayhawks games to watch Andrew Wiggins and have left talking about Joel Embiid. HE isn’t perfect, but the potential to be a truly dominating center is there.
Despite showing an advanced maturity on the court, Embiid does have a rawness that may take some time to fully polish. This includes better positioning and general decision-making near the basket. Hey, I thought the Bucks already have Larry Sanders and John Henson being groomed as the front line of the future?
You are correct, and drafting Embiid would probably lead to one of the two being dealt, which is not a bad thing when you are making room for a potential beast like him. Rebuilding is often painful, and this would be one area where fans would have to trust the process.
If Wiggins and Jabari Parker are off the board, then the Bucks will need to consider Embiid. They don’t want to pass over the next dominating NBA center, especially one who is ready to contribute on both ends of the floor.
