John Wall’s Complete Originality Saves the Dunk Contest’s Horribly Awkward Format
Man that was an awkward dunk contest.
John Wall saved it though with his spectacular dunk that completely took all of the air out of Ben McLemore’s flush over the throne, which probably saddened Shaquille O’Neal. Wall did a dunk that has never been done, and he also only practiced it once before making it on his first try on Saturday night. Pretty amazing move by Wall and analyst Melvin Plank said “that he is an alien”.
Whether Wall is from another planet is still up for debate, but there is no debating that he is a world class athlete who put on quite a show in front of the New Orleans crowd. This is Wall’s first All Star selection, and here is hoping that we see some spectacular alley oops tonight; with both Wall and Chris Paul out there expect there to be quite a few thrown off the glass and maybe even the floor too.
Wall has been playing with a chip on his shoulder after not being invited to the Team USA camp, and so do not be surprised if the Wizards make a push for the three seed in the playoffs. Bradley Beal came close to winning the three point contest, which would of make it a clean sweep for the Wizards. They never have had a player win the dunk content, though, so thinking that Wall’s victory was a bigger deal than Beal’s close defeat.
