The Minnesota Timberwolves have one priority at the trade deadline, which is to make a deal that will improve the happiness of star Kevin Love. One way to do that is to execute a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies that will acquire shooting guard Tony Allen and small forward Tayshaun Prince.

The chances of the Timberwolves making the playoffs this season aren’t very good at the moment, especially since they play in the competitive Western Conference. However, a simple shake up and a couple of new pieces could do wonders. More importantly, Minnesota’s focus shouldn’t necessarily be on improving the roster for a run at a postseason berth, but rather to give Love every reason in the world to re-sign with the team.

It’s no secret that the power forward is already looking ahead to free agency in 2015, as he doesn’t believe Minnesota has what it takes to become contenders. However, if the Timberwolves added Allen and Prince to the mix then there’s a good chance he will see the organization has every intention of supplying the necessary assets to make the roster better. The reason for that is because Allen and Prince both have championship rings. More importantly, they have championship experience and the necessary drive to win it all. Surrounding Love with those kinds of players could do wonders for the future of the team.

It’s hard to say whom Minnesota will need to trade in order to get the deal done. There’s some speculation that small forward Chase Budinger is definitely in the mix. With that being said, the Grizzlies will want more than just him, which means the Timberwolves better come up with something fast as the trade deadline is near.
