Watch Bensalem Teen Kevin Grow’s Magical Night With the Philadelphia 76ers
Just when Bensalem senior Kevin Grow thought his recent celebrity status couldn’t be taken to a higher level, the basketball superstar earned a two-day contract with the Philadelphia 76ers this week as he not only participated in team practice on Monday, but took part in the team’s pre-game activities for Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Grow, a teen with down syndrome, recently made national headlines after he earned playing time for Bensalem in the final two minutes of senior night and certainly didn’t disappoint as he hit numerous shots from three-point range while finishing the game with 14 points.
On Tuesday, the Sixers gave Grow a night he’s going to remember for the rest of his life as they planned a day full of activities for the high school senior–from receiving a tour of the Wachovia Center to even having his name called during Philadelphia’s pre-game introduction. Even though the Sixers went on to lose their ninth-straight game, this was a certainly a memorable night for the organization as they also went the extra mile by honoring Grow’s teammates at the game as well.
It’s always amazing to see professional teams go out of their way to make an impact in the community and to see them sign Grow to a two-day contract was simply awesome.
