It’s been a rough season for the Los Angeles Lakers as the team currently ranks near the bottom of the Western Conference with a 18-36 record and to top it off–fans had to deal with the return of Dwight Howard on Wednesday night as a member of the Houston Rockets. As expected, the Lakers were no match for the Rockets as they cruised to a 134-108 win and while fans did all they could to make Howard’s visit a difficult one–that certainly didn’t stop the center from having fun with some of the negative chants at the Staples Center.
The video above shows Howard chiming in with Lakers fans on the “Howard sucks” chants that took place during the third quarter of Wednesday’s game and whether you love him or hate him, it’s hard not to laugh when seeing this clip. If you recall, there was plenty of hype surrounding Howard joining the Lakers prior to the 2012-13 season as he would be teaming up with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Steve Nash, but things obviously didn’t work out the way the team was hoping it would.
Instead, Howard averaged just over 17 points per game and Los Angeles was eliminated in the first-round of the playoffs.
Howard could have easily given things another shot with the Lakers if he really wanted to, but he decided to part ways with the team instead and join the Rockets during the offseason–which was a slap to the face to Los Angeles as an organization considering what they originally went through to acquire him. Lakers fans can be upset as much as they want, but for this season–it’s clear Howard is the real winner in this situation since the Rockets will most likely be heading to the playoffs while the Lakers will be watching from home.
