Carmelo Anthony’s Latest Comments Sum Up New York Knicks’ Entire Season

Carmelo Anthony

David Manning – USA TODAY Sports

After a devastating buzzer-beater loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night, New York Knicks‘ forward Carmelo Anthony offered up the NBA quote of the season:

“You score 40 or 44 points and still lose, and you kind of ask yourself, ‘Is it worth it?’”

If nothing else, that little bit of information from Anthony lets you know that he’s as good as gone this offseason. However, the pending free agent did provide us with quite the fodder for some great questions for the disgruntled Carmelo.

First and foremost: New York currently has the second highest payroll in the NBA, yet sit in the league’s cellar with a 21-36 overall record. Clearly, no one on the Knicks’ roster is worth it, right? Hey, Metta World Peace was just shown the door despite being brought on in the offseason to serve as a “defensive stopper” for New York. The man formerly known as Ron Artest wasn’t exactly worth it, right?

Clearly, the dumpster fire that is the Knicks’ roster isn’t worth watching even if Carmelo does find a way to pour in 40 points+ once or twice a week. Sadly enough, it’s not going to get any better anytime soon for New York. Sure, Anthony is going to leave town this offseason and the Knicks will have some extra money, but so what? We know exactly where that money is going — more overrated and aging players like World Peace and J.R. Smith will be welcomed to the Big Apple with open arms.

On the bright side, Anthony did find a way to give the Knicks are new slogan and it goes something like this — New York Knicks Basketball: Is it Really Worth It?
