The free agency market this upcoming offseason has the potential to be swarmed with the NBA‘s elite players. These players can possibly include LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony since each hold an early termination option on their current contracts. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to make a splash when these players hit the market as the team has ample cap space to sign at least one max contract.
Although the feeling around the league is that James, Wade and Anthony will in all likelihood simply re-up with their current teams, Bosh is not as much of a certainty. In fact, if the Miami Heat fail to win a third straight NBA Finals, Bosh may ditch the Big-3 to prove himself to still be one of the best power forwards in the game.
If this situation were to arise, the Lakers have been rumored to be quietly interested in acquiring Bosh this summer. This is not the first time that he has been involved in Lakers’ rumors, but this time around, Los Angeles actually has a fighting chance at landing him. Many NBA fans are not very fond of Bosh, mainly because his skills are overshadowed by being on the same team as LeBron. Of course this is understandable, but the Heat would not be in the position that they are today with him.
Bosh has vastly improved his game since joining the Heat about four years ago. He is more of a stretch four now as his three-point shot has elevated his game to the next level. With questions about Kobe Bryant‘s health moving forward, Bosh would certainly have an increased role on the Lakers than he would with the Heat. This may seem like a selfish reason to leave a championship caliber team, but players have pride. Most of them would like their game to be noticed if they believe that they are a top player in the league.
Either way, he would be a perfect fit in Los Angeles. Fans would eventually begin to realize really how elite of a player that Bosh is. Though nothing is definite as of today, be on the watch for the Lakers to inquire about Bosh this offseason.
