2014 NBA Draft: 5 Players the Orlando Magic Should Target

a
USA TODAY Sports- John Geliebter

Well, this is going to be a fun exercise. The Orlando Magic desperately need help, and they have some nice players on the roster to build around; there are still some major gaps though that they will need to address through the draft.

We will suggest five options the Magic might have this summer, but obviously a lot depends on future trades as well as what happens in the draft lottery. They will most likely not be picking outside of the top five though, and honestly would be pretty surprised if their pick is not in the top three.

Most of the players on this list are from the blue-chip basketball programs, but we might surprise you with a couple of the other picks as well. In any case, we all know that the Magic need help even though they have a rookie of the year candidate in Victor Oladipo. Also, I believe that Tobias Harris will be quite a productive pro player in his career, but it just remains to be seen whether it will all be in Orlando. They are certainly known to make major trades, and you can bet that we will let you know if they make any moves before next summer's draft.

The playoffs are certainly out of the picture for Magic fans, so just thought I could throw you all a bone just in case you were tired of reading about how great of a season Dwight Howard is having in Houston.

Sorry. Too soon?

Rant Sports is about to kick it up another gear in March, and we will be hitting you with plenty of March Madness college basketball content as well as more pro basketball content like this. Thanks for stopping by, and hope you enjoy my five picks in the following slides.

5. Jabari Parker-

Don't you think Parker and Oladipo would get along. The Magic right now look like they will have around pick number three, but a little lottery magic could make this unlikely pairing happen. Parker is my pick to be the number one pick at moment, and believe that is what it is going to take to draft him.

4. Aaron Gordon

Pairing the Magic's talented backcourt with a high flyer like Gordon would turn them into Lob City East. Gordon has ben compared often to Blake Griffin, but would not go that far yet. Especially considering the way that Griffin has taken his game to another level this season. One thing is clear; the Magic would be lucky to add a player like Gordon to their squad.

3. Andrew Wiggins

NBADraft.net has Wiggins going third to the Magic, and could definitely see that happening if that is where their pick ends up. The rumors I'm hearing are the Joel Embiid is the odds-on favorite to go number one, although if it were me would probably go with Parker.

2. Julius Randle

The Kentucky Wildcats forward has a world of talent and strength at his disposal, and any team would be lucky to have him. The Magic would find some nice use for his abilities though, but it just remains to be seen how high of a draft pick they end up having.

1. Doug McDermott

Did my ace in the hole catch you off guard? McDermott has a little bit of Pete Maravich to his history, and I think that he will be a more productive pro player than a lot of scouts may realize. That is just my thought on it, but of these five players he would be able to help the Magic win more games immediately.
