Taj Gibson Shows Again Why Carlos Boozer Is Useless To Chicago Bulls

Taj Gibson

It’s becoming more and more obvious that Taj Gibson of the Chicago Bulls is an All-Star power forward in the making. Sure, Chicago might have babied the second-round pick in terms of minutes over the past two years, but Gibson is showing the Windy City why Carlos Boozer needs to board the first flight out of town.

The Bulls’ victory against the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night was easily the team’s most impressive victory all year. Down 16 points early on, Chicago managed to keep Dirk Nowitzki and company at bay. Of course, 20 points and 15 rebounds from Gibson helped the cause as well.

To be frank; words like “explosion” or “rare” should not be used when talking about Gibson pouring in a double-double. The fact of the matter is that Gibson’s points per game average rivals Boozer’s even though the ladder has only recently been given a larger role in the Bulls’ offense. Thankfully, Boozer’s time under head coach Tom Thibodeau will soon be over as the power forward will likely be released under the amnesty clause by Chicago this summer.

With that, the 28-year-old Gibson will be given even more freedom on both ends of the floor considering he has been more or less splitting time with the aging Boozer. Furthermore, Gibson also has the rest of the 2013-14 to really punch Boozer’s ticket out of Chicago.
