2014 NBA Draft: 5 Players the Charlotte Bobcats Should Target

a

The Charlotte Bobcats certainly need all the help they can get, and even changing their team name is not likely to help things in the long run. A series of bad draft decisions have placed them in difficult circumstances, and it probably does not hurt that Charlotte is not a major market.

In the following slides, you will find five suggestions for how the Bobcats can improve in the draft over the summer. It will take a few years of hitting it out of the park for the Bobcats to find their way back to the playoffs though, and I will not be holding my breath on that one. Michael Jordan was bar-none the best basketball player to ever put on a pair of sneakers, but as an owner he has been a disappointment to say the absolute least about it. Would not be shocked here if he ends up picking a Tar Heel this summer, and so you know there will be at least one on the list.

You may find some of the names familiar, and others you may not. A couple ACC talents make an appearance, but we also make room for the other power conferences as well. Have been lucky enough to have interviewed one or two subjects on the list, and it is something I pinch myself every day about.

Thanks as always for stopping by and if you have not been keeping up with Rant Sports Prep, then just not sure what you have been doing with your life.

5. Joel Embiid

It would have been hard to imagine someone on Andrew Wiggins' own team getting drafted ahead of him a year ago, but it appears we are heading that direction with Embiid's impressive play.

4. Tyler Ennis

Got to start off with an obvious one, but then wanted to throw a little credit Ennis' way. He has been the most impressive point guard in the ACC this season, although the freshman of the year in the conference will be the player featured on the next slide.

3. Jabari Parker

This one is a pipe dream along the lines of Embiid, but they certainly wouldn't complain if Parker fell into their lap. If I had the number one pick in the draft, then this would be my guy.

2. James Michael McAdoo

This feels like a Michael Jordan pick right? He probably only watched the Tar Heel games this year and so this is my pick that feels the most realistic. If McAdoo is picked, then it also essentially means that the Bobcats are not yet improving. He is not quite the type of talent who will push you over the edge, but he is more of a role player.

1. Julius Randle

This is who they really need. Al Jefferson was just a stopgap measure, but Randle could be their power forward of the future. This pick feels like the happy medium between the pipe dream and the reality for the Bobcats. If Randle goes anywhere in the lottery though, then you can be sure that John Calipari will be smiling.
