2014 NBA Draft: 5 Players the Phoenix Suns Should Target

The Phoenix Suns are what you should love about the NBA. Goran Dragic is playing like an MVP candidate, despite not even being voted the All Star game. Head coach Jeff Hornaceck has to be the coach of the year favorite at the moment, and people seem to forget that all the media picked this team to be land in the lottery at the end of the year.

It turns out we are looking at a playoff team though, and truly looking forward to the terror that "The Dragon" can make happen in the first round. The Suns are also playing with house money, because they have a slew of draft picks (mainly from the Lakers) and could potentially move up or down in the draft if they find a player they have to have.

You will find a similar theme to player-wise with my other slide shows, but that is mainly due to my taste in talent. I appreciate the ones who pay real attention to the fundamentals, but also might have put a high flyer or two on this list so keep an eye out for that too. You might have a guess as to who that high flyer is, because he currently plays in the state of Arizona and has created plenty of buzz for Sean Miller and company.

Here are my five picks for who the Suns GM should be eyeballing as we begin to enter March Madness. Feel free to disagree on twitter; also know that sticks and stones may hurt my bones, but words will never hurt me.

5. Aaron Gordon

Keep him in Arizona! Would it not be fitting? Gordon is from California originally, so he would probably be more than thrilled to stay in the state he attended college. Imagining Dragic and Gordon on a fastbreak is quite a tantalizing thing to dream about, and do yourself a favor on youtube real quick if you have not seen any of his dunks.

4. Jabari Parker

He has tried out the Midwest, and now the East; maybe it is time for Jabari Parker to take a few steps closer to Utah. Being drafted by the Jazz might just be a little too much, but that team would probably love to have him as well. Have personal stakes in this, because I was lucky enough to interview Jabari once and so am rooting for him to succeed. We were also both raised Mormon, so there is that connection as well.

3. Aaron Craft

A crafty pick, don't you think? Haha. Okay, enough with the cornballing. Think Craft would spread the floor nicely with Dragic, and the younger point guard is probably a player that you could grab in the second round of the draft. It seems Craft has been in college forever, but it is now time for him to hang up the Buckeyes jersey.

2. Joel Embiid

Any team would have use for Embiid, and we have definitely not seen the ceiling yet for him. It was announced today that he would sit out the last two games of the regular season with some back problems, but that does not seem to be deterring any NBA GMs from having serious interest in the Kansas Jayhawks center.

1. Julius Randle

The brute force of Randle's game would blend nicely with the easy grace of Dragic's talents, and the more I think about it this would be the ideal pairing. We will have to see if their draft pick ends up being high enough, but Randle might just be the perfect player to get the Suns to the next level and one day actually contend for a title.
