The Cleveland Cavaliers have been building for what seems like forever now, and although they can still make the 2014 playoffs, that’s looking increasingly unlikely. Mike Brown‘s men can become a force and indeed make the playoffs, but they may have to wait a year for the 2015 NBA playoffs.
In certain moments, the Cavaliers have looked every bit the young, dynamic team Dan Gilbert promised the city he’d deliver, but at other times, they’ve been a colossal mess that would tremble in their boots at facing a high school team. The stability within the organization will prove pivotal in them making the playoffs. If they can add that alongside a new player or two, as done with center Spencer Hawes, then they will find it hard to not make the 2015 postseason.
Do the players believe they can become a winner? It appears so, at least Dion Waiters does anyway. After the loss, he tweeted “I just want to give the city of Cleveland what they deserve, PLAYOFFS!!! That’s y I play every game like it’s my last!!!!” This could be a sign of the previously mentioned stability settling in. Waiters was a constant name being discussed in trade talks, but it appears the Cavaliers and their two-guard are in it for the long haul, and they both share the same goal: playoffs.
Barring an almighty turn in form, tbe Cavaliers will not make the 2014 playoffs, but the framework is definitely in place to be there a year later than planned.
