5 Teams That Need Phil Jackson More Than the New York Knicks

After news broke that legendary coach Phil Jackson had met with the New York Knicks to discuss their head coaching position, it seemed prudent to examine where the Zenmaster could fit within the league's current landscape.

He is considering a front office position with the Knicks, although it seems he does not have any interest in their head coaching position at the time. There are plenty of teams that could use him, but here are the top five.

Bet you could not force Jackson at gunpoint to coach the Lakers at this point; their embarrassing loss over the weekend proved beyond a doubt that they are beyond fixing. The Zenmaster could certainly help their mental mindset, but you cannot fix not having talent.

The clock is now officially ticking for Kevin McHale, and though I am rooting for him, just do not see this going well for the best post player in pro basketball history. Some might debate me on that, but to them I would just say go and look at the tape. As a coach? He has been hit and miss to say the least, and he is now coaching a team with championship aspirations and talent. The easiest guy to throw under the bus? Always the coach.

3. The Charlotte Bobcats

Couldn't you see this happening if the Bobcats had any actual talent? Do not rule out this franchise when it comes to making Jackson involved in a basketball operations or even decision making. The Zenmaster and owner Michael Jordan go back a pretty long way to say the least, which you would know, unless you have been living under a rock.

2. The Seattle Supersonics

Apologies, this one is half joke and half pain. Seattle had floated the prospect of handing over the show to Jackson back when it looked like the Sacramento Kings were considering a move, and it is a shame that did not end up going down. Seattle deserves a basketball team.

Okay. This might be a stretch, but could you not see the Brooklyn Nets owner making a "Godfather" like offer to Jackson? The billionaire owner has not shied away from opening up his checkbook in the past, and if he landed the Zenmaster it would at the very least boost their ticket sales. When all is said and done, Jackson should be involved with some pro basketball franchise by the end of the summer.
