The Cleveland Cavaliers have had a struggling season full of ups and downs. But they’ve won two in a row recently, and they need to beat the Los Angeles Clippers to keep their thin playoff hopes alive. The Cavaliers have won 26 times all season, but they’ve won six of their last eight against Western Conference teams. They’ll be hoping to beat the in form Clippers, because if they lose, they can say goodbye to their playoff hopes.
Kyrie Irving and Spencer Hawes will have to go toe-to-toe with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin, which nobody finds easy, as proven by their 10-game winning streak. The Clippers are a certainty for the playoffs while the Cavaliers are hoping to join them, but a lack of consistency has hurt their chances. Now that they’ve found winning form again, they need to maintain it, and winning their third in a row against a team of their caliber may be the spark they need to get in to the playoffs.
The Cavaliers are lost and stuck in between the best and worst teams in the league. With a new player or two they can make themselves a tough team once again, but after a season of struggles, they can still find a way of achieving their main aim of getting back to the playoffs. Sadly for the Cavaliers, no team will get in if they fail to sustain even a small period of winning, and that’s something the Cavaliers have been guilty of this season.
Simply put, this game will prove whether they really want and deserve playoff basketball this season.
