Brandon Knight is Milwaukee Bucks’ Most Improved Player

Each game the Milwaukee Bucks‘ preseason trade of Brandon Jennings for Brandon Knight and Khris Middleton keeps looking better. Not only has Middleton been a pleasant surprise, but the Bucks may have gotten their point guard of the future in Knight.

Expectations were not super high and a rough November got Knight off on the wrong foot with Bucks fans. Since then he has built on each month to the point recently where he is competing with the top guards in the league. Not only has he shown improvement over the course of the year, but his increase in productivity from a year ago is quite impressive.

Last year Knight averaged 13.3 points a game and this year has improved (and continues to improve) to 17.4 points a game. Not only are his points up, but also his assists, steals and rebounds per game. All of this with less than one minute more played per game over last year. Oh, and let’s not forget that Knight plays and works hard on defense, not something his predecessor ever did on a consistent basis. Did the Detroit Pistons give up too early on Knight? It looks like the answer is yes, turning this deal into a steal by the Bucks.

In addition to statistics, Knight is taking on a role of floor general and a leader of the Bucks — not just a stopgap waiting for someone else. Despite playing with the Pistons last year, this year he is the Bucks’ most improved player and should be considered for the award at the league level as well.
