The Philadelphia 76ers find themselves with nowhere to go but up from here. Concluding the season before snapping their historic losing streak would signify the team hitting rock bottom, but there will be much optimism in regards to the team’s future after that point.

The Sixers are unlikely to become competitive overnight, but steps in the right direction are inevitable, and there are five ways Philadelphia can get better over the offseason.

5. Solid NBA Draft

The Sixers putting Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins in their jersey next season would be ideal for the franchise. With a multitude of picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, Philadelphia is looking to correct their woes with their possible top pick and those to follow. Selecting a franchise player and some keys pieces to surround Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel will make the Sixers better immediately.

4. Develop young players

This one is obvious. With so many young players on one roster, developing those guys is key to improving one season to the next. To be specific, Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel will be key pieces for the Sixers' future, and developing them will work wonders for this team's potential. The one issue is that nearly every newcomer could find themselves traded or cut, which slows down overall development of the team.

3. Sign a veteran free agent

The Sixers are littered with inexperienced played who have never been around a winning franchise. Heading into free agency, they must bring a veteran into Philadelphia -- one who can help guide the younger players next season. Someone like Thabo Sefolosha would be a huge addition for the Sixers.

2. Keep Thaddeus Young in Philly

Brett Brown has very few options to work with in his first season in Philadelphia. Of those he does have, the Sixers need to keep them on board to aid whomever may fill the roster next season. Trade rumors have shadowed Thaddeus Young for the entirety of his 2013-14 campaign. Young is currently the Sixers' best player and only veteran. Philadelphia needs to dispatch all trade rumors surrounding Young and assure that he is there in the future.

1. Develop a winning mentality

The possibility of the Sixers being crowned with the longest losing streak in NBA is becoming more of a reality with every game. The offseason could become a very uplifting period for the franchise with the depth of the NBA Draft along with finally seeing Nerlens Noel be ready to debut. The team that enters next season should be completely revitalized, leaving this forgettable season in the past.
