Happy March Madness everybody! This slideshow goes out to Jalen Rose, who did a fantastic job on the Spurs-Lakers' game last night. He is also in pretty good form as I am watching Grantland's Live March Madness feed, although last year's will be pretty hard to top. Let us see if we can't figure out five ways that we can make Rose's Pistons better next season.
This was the hint dropped by Rose, and it makes me wonder if he has any inside information. Izzo has certainly accomplished everything possible at the college level, and the Pistons would be lucky to have a coach like him. His brief flirtation with the Cavs back when they were trying to keep LeBron James also makes me think that this could be a possibility.
This one could be a trouble spot, and he could end up getting traded if things do not improve in the next season. J. Smooth has a high flying game, but it is fair to say his decision making has been shaky at times. More than fair, actually.
Brandon Jennings tends to get a little spastic at times out on the court, and I like when my point guard is more of a calming presence. It is the difference between Chris Paul storming down the court with full control, and Lance Stephenson barreling into the lane with his head down.
This seems to be the area that the Pistons are weakest, and maybe they can add a piece through free agency. Just do not let Joe Dumars make the decisions this summer, because he could end up egregiously overpaying for Ben Gordon and Charlie "Cancer to His Team" Villanueva.
On that last note! They really, REALLY need to fire Joe Dumars for his horrible decision making, and make Tom Izzo as powerful within the organization as the Michigan State Spartans' coach would like. They certainly seem to be everyone's pick to win it all this season, but maybe the POTUS picking them will jinx their chances.
