It doesn’t come as a surprise that Kansas Jayhawks forward Andrew Wiggins will announce his intent to enter the NBA Draft at a news conference on Monday afternoon. The only surprise at this point will be where he is taken in the draft.

At this moment, the Milwaukee Bucks have the best chance of getting the No. 1 selection in the 2014 NBA Draft. Considering the Bucks can use help at basically every position, they are expected to take the best player available. Whether that means taking Wiggins or forward Jabari Parker, assuming he declares, remains to be seen.

Wiggins isn’t someone who will tear it up on the court and make jaws drop in his rookie season. What he will do is give Milwaukee the edge they need two to three years from now when the rest of the players on the roster find their groove. In fact, the time Wiggins comes into his own will be exactly on pace with the rest of the team, which could make for a very scary situation for the rest of the NBA.

Wiggins is unbelievably athletic and has the most potential of any player who will be eligible in the draft. He will be the perimeter threat Milwaukee needs, which will allow other players to work the inside. On top of that, he has the ability to put the ball down on the court and swiftly move past any defender in his way.

The freshman stated months ago that he never intended to stay in Kansas past this season. Even so, it will be hard for the Jayhawks to say goodbye knowing that they didn’t accomplish their goal, which was to reach the Final Four.
